If you're also on Last.fm or have been thinking of getting an account there,
please don't forget to join our sister group there, "Alan C Wilder".
Currently we're hoping a few more of you will join us there, for a couple of reasons:

-- there, we have our own Recoil Radio station, but it's dependant on the collective musical tastes of the group's members, so certainly, the more the better!
-- in order for our group (and our group Radio) to stay active and available, we need at least 15 members; currently there's 13.
-- the groups, events and forum capabilities there compliment this lj community beautifully.

PLEASE JOIN US THERE TODAY!

Thanks all!

Posted on 23 Apr, 2007

The news first got out earlier than planned via the Russian label Gala Records which is responsible for distributing the EMI catalogue in Russia, and has now been confirmed this weekend by the Recoil headquarters as well: a new Recoil album titled "subHuman" is planned to be released on July 2nd via Mute. The albums marks the return of the former Depeche Mode member Alan Wilder after a 6 year break from recording. "subHuman" will be Recoil's 5th studio album. The release will be available on CD and limited edition gatefold vinyl. A special collector's DVD package will also be issued to include an enhanced stereo CD, a 5.1 Surround Sound version and an exclusive ambient re-working of the entire album. The DVD will also include all the Recoil videos to date. Collaborating with Recoil is Blues-man Joe Richardson, whose "evocative vocal style is complimented by accomplished guitar and harmonica performances". Born in Southern Louisiana, Richardson spent years immersed in the murkier side of New Orleans life and offers what Mute calls "a unique commentary on conflict, religion, incarceration and personal struggle". Also included on the disc is English singer Carla Trevaskis. She already confirmed on her MySpace a few days ago that she had been working on 2 Recoil tracks. In the past Trevaskis collaborated with artists as diverse as Fred de Faye (Eurythmics), Cliff Hewitt (Apollo 440) and Dave McDonald (Portishead). At the moment the Recoil webhub 'Shunt' is being rebuilt, the page currently offers the official press release.

Lots 'n lots to talk about. And/or we can just sit back and listen to our new Alan Wilder/Recoil 'neighbourhood radio':

Over and out! ;)

New Recoil Album Details

RECOIL
'subHuman'
2007/Mute Records

After a 6 year break from recording, musician/producer Alan Wilder returns with Recoil's 5th studio album. Entitled 'subHuman', it has been provisionally set for release on July 2nd, 2007.

'subHuman' will be available on CD and limited edition gatefold vinyl. A special collector's DVD package will also be issued to include an enhanced stereo CD, a 5.1 Surround Sound version and an exclusive ambient re-working of the entire album. The DVD will also include all the Recoil videos to date.

Collaborating with Recoil is Blues-man Joe Richardson, whose evocative vocal style is complimented by accomplished guitar and harmonica performances. Born in Southern Louisiana, Richardson spent years immersed in the murkier side of New Orleans life and offers a unique commentary on conflict, religion, incarceration and personal struggle.

English singer Carla Trevaskis, a songwriter in her own right, brings an expressive range and control to 'subHuman' and has worked with artists as diverse as Fred de Faye (Eurythmics), Cliff Hewitt (Apollo 440) and Dave McDonald (Portishead).

Wilder's skill at blending diverse and eclectic musical styles with often controversial subjects has produced an album of complex sonic imagery and expansive dynamic range. 'subHuman' asks us to reach within ourselves and extract the very essence of what makes us human - and more importantly what allows us to subordinate others, sometimes with the most brutal consequences. We are all 'subHuman' in somebody's eyes.
